Lawrence County sweeps Betsy Layne in district series

LOUISA — Lawrence County swept Betsy Layne in a 58th District baseball regular season series March 30-31.
The Bulldogs outscored the Bobcats 45-0 over eight innings in back-to-back 58th District games.

Visiting Lawrence County leveled Betsy Layne 30-0 in five innings in a 58th District baseball game on Wednesday, March 30.
Senior Bryce Blevins led Lawrence County to the win, belting three home runs and recording 10 RBIs, which are the second most all-time in the 15th Region. Blevins is tied for fifth for single-game RBIs in the state.
Following Blevins’ leading performance at the plate for the Bulldogs, Blue Fletcher added three hits, including two doubles. Fletcher collected four RBIs.
Lawrence County scored 30 runs on 25 hits.
Will Lafferty earned the win on the mound for the Bulldogs. Lafferty limited Betsy Layne to one hit.
Byron Tackett suffered the loss on the mound for the Bobcats.
Jordan Frazier singled to account for Betsy Layne’s only hit.
Defensively, Betsy Layne committed six errors.

Homestanding Lawrence County shut out Betsy Layne 15-0 in three innings on Thursday, March 31.
Blue Fletcher and Talon Pollock combined to pitch a no-hitter for the Bulldogs. Fletcher earned the win, recording two strikeouts over two innings. Closing out the game on the mound for Lawrence County, Pollock struck out two and walked one in the third inning.
Brady Robinson started on the mound for Besty Layne and suffered the loss.
Helping his pitching cause at the plate, Fletcher recorded three hits and drove in two runs.
Grover Maynard (two hits, two RBIs), Will Lafferty (two hits, two RBIs), Abner Collinsworth (two hits, one RBI), Luke Patton (one hit, one RBI), Mason Preston (one RBI), Eli Fletcher (one RBI), Bryce Blevins (one hit) and Nick Collinsworth (one hit) also contributed at the plate for the Bulldogs.
