Lawrence County tops Floyd Central 20-2

EASTERN — Lawrence County pulled away to defeat Floyd Central 20-2 in three innings in a 58th District softball game on Monday, March 25.

Taking control early, Lawrence County scored four runs in the top half of the first inning.

Lawrence County led 7-0 after its second at-bat.

Putting the game completely out of Floyd Central’s reach, Lawrence County erupted for 13 runs in the top half of the third inning to move ahead 20-0.

Floyd Central pushed across two runs in the bottom half of the third inning but couldn’t get any closer.

Taylor Blevins earned the win in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs. Blevins recorded four strikeouts over three innings.

Floyd Central pitcher Whitley Hall suffered the loss. Hall struck out one Lawrence County batter over three innings.

Lawrence County scored 20 runs on 13 hits. Blevins (one hit, three RBIs), Bree Jones (two hits, four RBIs), Jada Patton (two hits, four RBIs), Abby Nelson (two hits, three RBIs), Aleaha Gillispie (one hit, two RBIs), Gracie Preece (one hit, one RBI), Braylee Triplett (one hit), Dani Crum (one hit) and Millie Sammons (one hit) each delivered at the plate for Lawrence County in its victory.

Floyd Central plated two runs on three hits. Cadyn Roberson (two hits, one RBI) and Mia Queen-Gilliam accounted for Floyd Central’s offense in the district game.
