Feltner concludes freshman campaign

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Lawrence County High School graduate Kensley Feltner has concluded her freshman campaign with the Belmont University women’s basketball program.

As a freshman, Feltner appeared in 26 games for the Bruins. Feltner will be carrying momentum over into her sophomore campaign.

Belmont compiled a 26-9 record in the 2023-24 women’s college basketball season. The Bruins lost to Penn State in the second round of the WBIT on Monday, March 25.

Feltner is the fourth all-time leading scorer in Kentucky girls’ high school basketball. Excelling at Lawrence County High School, Feltner became only the fourth player in state history to score 4,000 points. She finished her prep career with 4,189 career points. Feltner scored 1,039 points as a senior on her way to being a Kentucky Miss Basketball finalist. She set Lawrence County career school records for points, rebounds (1,542), assists (816) and steals (413). Feltner led the state in scoring as a senior in the 2022-23 girls’ high school basketball season, averaging 28.9 points per game. She averaged 9.4 rebounds as a high school senior. Feltner was named First Team All-State by multiple outlets. The Lawrence County High School standout was named the 15th Region Player of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches. As a senior, Feltner led Lawrence County to its first 15th Region girls’ basketball championship, a Kentucky Sweet 16 appearance and a 30-6 record.
