Lawrence County to host scrimmage Aug. 9

LOUISA — Lawrence County will host a preseason high school football scrimmage at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9.

The teams scheduled to compete in the preseason high school football scrimmage are host Lawrence County, Russell, Letcher County Central, Martin County and Paintsville.

Lawrence County (Class 3A, District 8) compiled an 8-4 record in the 2023 high school football season. The Bulldogs lost to Rockcastle County in the second round of the 2023 KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs.

Russell (Class 3A, District 6) put together a 7-5 record in the 2023 high school football season. The Red Devils lost to Lexington Catholic in the second round of the 2023 KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs.

Letcher County Central (Class 4A, District 8) exited the 2023 high school football season 5-6. The Cougars lost to Taylor County in the opening round of the 2023 KHSAA Class 4A Playoffs.

Martin County (Class 2A, District 7) compiled a 7-6 record in the 2023 high school football season. The Cardinals fell to Beechwood in the third round of the 2023 KHSAA Class 2A Playoffs. Prior to falling in the postseason, Martin County captured the 2023 Class 2A, District 7 title.

Paintsville (Class 1A, District 8) put together a 6-6 record in the 2023 high school football season. The Tigers lost to Middlesboro in the second round of the 2023 KHSAA Class 1A Playoffs.
