Lawrence County shuts out Pikeville 8-0

PIKEVILLE — Lawrence County shut out Pikeville 8-0 on Tuesday, April 23.

Under the direction of first-year head coach Justin Adkins, Lawrence County notched its 20th win in the 2024 high school softball season.

Brooklyn Ellis and Taylor Blevins combined to pitch a three-hit shutout for visiting Lawrence County. Ellis started in the circle and pitched four and one-third innings, recording eight strikeouts on her way to earning the win. Closing out the game in the circle for Lawrence County, Taylor Blevins pitched the final two and two-thirds innings, recording two strikeouts on her way to claiming the save.

Lawrence County scored eight runs on 10 hits. Ellis (one hit, one RBI), Jada Patton (two hits, two RBIs), Dani Crum (two hits, two RBIs), Hallie Adkins (two hits, one RBI), Abby Maynard (one hit, one RBI), Abby Nelson (one hit), Bree Jones (one hit) and Addalyn Woods (one RBI) each produced offensively for the Lady Bulldogs. Crum homered for Lawrence County in its shutout win.

Lawrence County 1, Fleming County 0 (forfeit): Lawrence County notched a forfeit win over Fleming County on Saturday, April 27.

Following the win over Fleming County, 15th Region title contender Lawrence County moved to 21-1.
