PIKEVILLE — Lawrence County shut out Mingo Central (W.Va.) 22-0 in three innings in the Lyndel Potter Memorial Tournament at Pikeville High School on Friday, April 16.
Moving ahead early, Lawrence County erupted for 10 runs in the top half of the first inning.
Lawrence County led 17-0 following its second plate appearance and added five runs in the top half of the third inning to extend its lead.
Bree Jones started in the circle for Lawrence County and claimed the pitching win. Jones surrendered zero runs on two hits over two innings, striking out two and walking zero.
Working out of a relief role for the Bulldogs, Shelby Blevins pitched the final inning.
Kaylee Fabin started in the circle for Mingo Central. Fabin allowed nine hits and 10 runs over one inning, walking zero.
Ava Williams threw two innings in relief for Mingo Central.
Lawrence County outhit Mingo Central 19-3 and finished error-free in the field.
Jones, Blevins, Abby Nelson, Danielle Crum, Allie Triplett and Shelby Blevins each collected multiple hits for the Bulldogs. Both Jones and Crum recorded three hits. Crum homered twice and collected five RBIs.
Triplett and Kensley Feltner each doubled for Lawrence County in the victory.
Annie White went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Mingo Central's limited offensive attack.
Defensively, Mingo Central committed 12 errors.
