Lawrence County ranked eighth in Preseason Class 3A Poll

LOUISA — Lawrence County is ranked eighth in the Herald-Leader Preseason Class 3A Poll.

The Herald-Leader released preseason polls for each of the state’s six football classes.

Following Lawrence County in the Preseason Class 3A Poll are Rockcastle County (9) and Bardstown (10).

Central (7), Glasgow (6), Lloyd Memorial (5), Bell County (4), Murray (3), Lexington Catholic (2) and preseason frontrunner Christian Academy-Louisville (1) are listed ahead of Lawrence County in the Preseason Class 3A Poll.

Christian Academy-Louisville is the reigning Class 3A champion.

The other teams that received votes in the Preseason Class 3A Poll were Union County, Russell, Bourbon County, Letcher County Central, Hart County, Knox Central, LaRue County, DeSales, Mercer County, McCreary Central and East Carter.  

Lawrence County finished 11-2 in the 2025 high school football season. Longtime head coach Alan Short guides the Bulldogs.

Lawrence County is scheduled to host Martin County for its opening game in the 2026 high school football season on Friday, Aug. 21.
