Lawrence County knocks off Letcher County Central

WHITESBURG — Lawrence County defeated Letcher County Central 7-1 in an early-season non-district high school softball game on Friday, March 20.
The Lady Bulldogs moved to 2-0 after notching the win.
Lawrence County scored first and never trailed. The Lady Bulldogs led 6-0 before Letcher County Central crossed home plate during the bottom half of the sixth inning.
Taylor Blevins pitched a complete game for Lawrence County and earned the win in the circle. Blevins held Letcher County Central to one run on three hits and recorded four strikeouts.
Lawrence County scored seven runs on 12 hits. Players throughout Lawrence County’s lineup were active at the plate. Blevins (one hit), Emalynn Kitts (three hits, one RBI), Jada Patton (two hits, three RBIs), Lexi Crum (two hits), Brinley Baisden (one hit, two RBIs), Ella Smith (one hit), Aleaha Gillispie (one hit) and Millie Sammons (one hit) were Lawrence County’s key offensive contributors. Both Blevins and Patton doubled while Crum tripled.
Lawrence County and Letcher County Central aren’t scheduled to meet again in the 2026 high school softball season.
