Lawrence County beats Betsy Layne in season opener

LOUISA — Lawrence County beat 58th District opponent Betsy Layne 10-3 in a high school softball season opener on Thursday, March 19.
The Lady Bulldogs scored first and never trailed. Lawrence County led 10-0 at the end of the fourth inning.
Taylor Blevins started in the circle for Lawrence County and earned the win. Blevins pitched four innings and recorded 11 strikeouts.
Braylee Triplett pitched three innings in relief for the Lady Bulldogs. Triplett struck out one Betsy Layne batter.
Lawrence County scored 10 runs on 12 hits. Blevins (two hits, one RBI), Emalynn Kitts (three hits, three RBIs), Aleaha Gillispie (two hits, one RBI), Lexi Crum (two hits, one RBI), Baleigh Blackburn (two hits), Skyler Horn (one hit, two RBIs) and Millie Sammons (one RBI) comprised a balanced offensive attack for the Lady Bulldogs. Both Kitts and Horn homered.
Lawrence County is scheduled to visit Betsy Layne for another 58th District softball game on Monday, April 13.
