Lawrence County knocks off Hazard

HAZARD — Lawrence County defeated Hazard 5-1 in a matchup between region title contenders on Friday, April 10.

Boedy Maynard pitched for Lawrence County and earned the win on the mound. Maynard recorded 10 strikeouts over seven innings. As part of a strong outing, Maynard held Hazard to one run on four hits.

Lawrence County scored five runs on seven hits. Maynard (one hit), Max Murriel (one hit, two RBIs), Brady Caudill (one hit, one RBI), Owen Pack (one hit, one RBI), Maddox Fletcher (one hit), Gray Derifield (one hit) and CJ Whitt (one hit) supplied Lawrence County’s offense in the win. Fletcher doubled, providing Lawrence County’s lone extra-base hit.  

Lawrence County 14, Magoffin County 3 (6 innings): Lawrence County pulled away to defeat Magoffin County 14-3 in six innings in Salyersville on Thursday, April 9.

Grant Cochran pitched for Lawrence County and earned the win on the mound. Cochran recorded four strikeouts.

Lawrence County scored 14 runs on 11 hits. Cochran (two hits, two RBIs), Brady Caudill (two hits, one RBI), Maddox Fletcher (two hits), Owen Pack (one hit, two RBIs), Max Murriel (one hit, one RBI), Braxton Davis (one hit, one RBI), Boedy Maynard (one hit) and Gray Derifield (one hit) each delivered at the plate in Lawrence County’s convincing victory. Both Caudill and Davis doubled.
