Lawrence County High School US23 Open tennis tournament

The annual Lawrence County High School US23 Open tennis tournament was held on Saturday, Sept. 16, in Louisa. Players from Pikeville, Knott County and Huntington, WV, along with local players participated.

There were several different divisions offered to players of all ages, genders and skill levels.

Winner of the Louisa-Men’s A Singles was Jarrod Fyffe Caudill of Paintsville, 6-0 and 6-1. He played against Reed Byers of Huntington.

Winner of the Louisa-18U Boy’s Double were Cayden Sweeney/Alex DeSario of Louisa, Aug.-00. They played Peyton Stevens and Max Lafever of Louisa.

Winner of the Louisa-14U Girls Singles was Audrey Turner of Knott County, by default.

Winner of the Louisa-Boy’s 18U Singles was

Winner of the Louisa-Boy’s 14U Singles was Bryson Dials, 8-3, playing against Bobby Baisden of Louisa.

Winners of the Louisa-Boy’s 14U Doubles was Astyn Combs and Braxton Smith of Knott County, 8-2, playing against Isaac Maynard and Bobby Baisden of Louisa.

Winner of the Men’s B Singles was Kyle Tackett, 6-1 and 6-4, playing against Jaxon Napier.

Winners of the Louisa-Men’s Doubles were Jared Fyffe Caudill and Chase Kendrick, playing against Bill Durstien and John Stapleton.

Winners of the Men’s B Doubles were Sam Lever and Jaryd Crum.

Lawrence County Coach, Joey McClanahan commented, “With the help of our local sponsors, Louisa Drug Store, Taco Bell, Giovanni’s and Dee’s, we were able to raise over $1,800 for the Lawrence County Boys and Girls tennis teams. I would like to thank these local businesses for support Bulldog Tennis.”
