OWENSBORO — Lawrence County finished runner-up in the 2A Softball State Tournament.
Harrison County held on to beat Lawrence County 8-6 in the 2A Softball State Tournament title game on Saturday, April 20.
Lawrence County suffered the setback after opening the 2024 high school softball season 19-0.
Isabella Persinger pitched a complete game for Harrison County and claimed the win in the circle.
Taylor Blevins started in the circle for Lawrence County and suffered the loss.
Replacing Blevins in the circle for Lawrence County, Brooklyn Ellis made a relief appearance.
The Fillies plated eight runs on 14 hits. Harrison County’s offensive attack featured Persinger (two hits), Savannah White (two hits, three RBIs), Trista Ritchie (two hits, one RBI), Emma Hamm (two hits), Owyn McCoy (two hits), Shyanne Ross (two hits), Marissa Taylor (one hit, two RBIs) and Allison Dye (one hit).
Lawrence County scored six runs on seven hits. Ellis (one hit), Abby Nelson (two hits, two RBIs), Hallie Adkins (one hit, one RBI), Dani Crum (one hit, one RBI), Jada Patton (one hit), Bree Jones (one hit) and Ella Smith (one RBI) each contributed offensively for the Lady Bulldogs. Both Ellis and Adkins doubled.
Ellis, Crum and Addalyn Woods represented Lawrence County on the All-2A Softball State Tournament Team.
Lawrence County exited the 2A Softball State Tournament 19-1.
