Lawrence County falls to Assumption in state tournament’s semifinals

LEXINGTON — Lawrence County’s postseason run ended in the semifinals of the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Softball State Tournament presented by UK HealthCare.

Assumption defeated Lawrence County 7-2 in the semifinals of the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Softball State Tournament presented by UK HealthCare on Friday, June 13.

The loss eliminated Lawrence County from the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Softball State Tournament presented by UK HealthCare. Lawrence County exited the 2025 high school softball season 26-8.

Assumption scored first and never trailed in the state tournament game. The Rockets led 4-0 at the conclusion of the third inning.

Lawrence County pushed across a pair of runs in the top half of the fourth inning but was held scoreless in its final three at-bats.

Lauren Satterly pitched a complete game for Assumption and earned the win in the circle. Satterly recorded seven strikeouts.

Taylor Blevins pitched a complete game for Lawrence County and suffered the loss in the circle. Blevins posted three strikeouts.

Assumption managed to score seven runs on eight hits. Satterly (two hits, two RBIs), Paige Crain (two hits, one RBI), Jaelynn Oaks (two hits, one RBI), Grace Sander (one hit, one RBI), Maleya Giddens (one hit) and Tia Ice (one hit) accounted for Assumption’s offense during the postseason matchup. Showing speed on the basepaths for Assumption, Sander tripled.

Lawrence County plated two runs on seven hits. Bree Jones (two hits, one RBI), Brinley Baisden (two hits), Ella Smith (one hit, one RBI), Gracie Preece (one hit) and Jada Patton (one hit) each produced offensively for the Lady Bulldogs. Supplying an extra-base hit for Lawrence County, Preece doubled.

Blevins and Patton represented Lawrence County on the Morgan & Morgan All-Tournament Team.
