Lawrence County drops three-point game to Belfry

LOUISA — Visiting Belfry held on to beat Lawrence County 52-49 on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
Belfry shot 40 percent (16-of-40) from the field. The Lady Pirates made three of eight three-point field goal attempts.
Belfry shot 73.9 percent (17-of-23) from the free throw line.
Excelling inside, Belfry outrebounded Lawrence County 37-29.
Jaaliyah Warren scored 21 points to lead Belfry to the win. Warren made three three-point field goals.
Joining Warren in double figures for Belfry, Clara McNamee and Jenna Sparks added 13 rebounds apiece.
McNamee and Sparks each recorded a double-double. Sparks pulled down 13 rebounds while McNamee secured 11 rebounds.
Rounding out Belfry’s scoring, Kylie Deboard chipped in five points.
Lawrence County shot 39.1 percent (18-of-46) from the field. The Lady Bulldogs made four of 20 three-point field goal attempts.
Lawrence County shot 64.3 percent (nine-of-14) from the free throw line.
Sophie Adkins scored 18 points to lead Lawrence County in the matchup.
Accompanying Adkins in double figures for Lawrence County, Jada Patton scored 10 points.
Barely missing double figures for Lawrence County, Kaison Ward netted nine points. Nearly registering a double-double, Ward hauled in 10 rebounds.
Six players accounted for all of Lawrence County’s scoring. The other scorers for Lawrence County were Leandra Curnutte (six points), Abby Maynard (four points) and Abby Nelson (two points).
