LOUISA — Lawrence County battled back from behind to defeat Floyd Central 80-75 in a 58th District boys’ basketball game on Friday, Jan. 12.

After recording the win, Lawrence County improved to 13-3 overall and moved to 3-0 in the 58th District.

Floyd Central dropped to 7-9 overall and 1-2 in the 58th District following the loss.

Lawrence County excelled early, outscoring Floyd Central 22-13 in the first quarter.

But Floyd Central fought back and managed to take a slim 33-32 lead into halftime.

Floyd Central led 59-53 at the end of the third quarter before faltering.

Finishing strong, Lawrence County completed a successful come-from-behind bid to notch the win.

The Bulldogs used a 17-7 run to beat the Jaguars.

Blake Marcum scored 23 points to lead Lawrence County to the win. Marcum connected on 13 of 16 free throw attempts.

Accompanying Marcum in double figures for Lawrence County, Hayden Perry scored 17 points and Kaden Johnson netted 10 points.

Finishing near double figures for Lawrence County, Luke Fetherolf added nine points and Gunnar Woods contributed eight points.

Aiding in the 58th District win, Andrew Bloomfield (six points), Ford Scaggs (four points) and Logan Ratliff (three points) were Lawrence County’s other scorers.

Lawrence County is scheduled to visit Floyd Central for another 58th District matchup on Friday, Jan. 19.
