Lawrence County defeats Magoffin County, Johnson Central

LOUISA — Lawrence County recorded back-to-back wins during the second week of the 2021-22 girls' high school basketball season, defeating former 57th District rivals Magoffin County and Johnson Central.

Lawrence County 57, Johnson Central 39

Returning home after two consecutive away games, Lawrence County beat Johnson Central 57-39 in a girls' high school basketball game on Friday, Dec. 10.

Lawrence County shot 40 percent (20-of-50) from the field. The Bulldogs were seven of 22 (31.8 percent) from three-point range.

Lawrence County shot 71.4 percent (10-of-14) from the free throw line.

Kensley Feltner scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Bulldogs.

Accompanying Feltner in double figures in scoring for Lawrence County, Kaison Ward scored 13 points.

Following Ward, Tyra Hammons and Sophie Adkins added eight points apiece for the Bulldogs.

Lawrence County 68, Magoffin County 27

Lawrence County took control early and pulled away to defeat Magoffin County 68-27 in Louisa on Tuesday, Dec. 7.

Visiting Lawrence County shot 46.3 percent (25-of-54) from the field. The Bulldogs shot 75 percent (12-of-16) from the free throw line.

Kensley Feltner poured in a game-high 30 points to lead Lawrence County to the win. Nearly recording a double-double, Feltner grabbed nine rebounds.

In addition to Fletner reaching double figures in scoring, Brooke Neal netted 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Narrowly missing double figures in scoring for Lawrence County, Kaison Ward added nine points.
