PRESTONSBURG — Behind a no-hitter from seventh grade pitcher Taylor Blevins, Lawrence County shut out rival Floyd Central 15-0 in four innings in the 58th District Softball Tournament title game at the Prestonsburg Sports Park on Tuesday, June 1.
Blevins pitched a four-inning perfect game. The Lawrence County pitcher struck out 10 of the 12 batters she faced. Helping her pitching cause at the plate, Blevins recorded one RBI.
Hannah Lewis took the pitching loss for Floyd Central. Lewis allowed 15 runs on nine hits while giving up six walks and registering one strikeout.
Shelby Blevins led reigning 58th District champion Lawrence County at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with four RBIs.
In addition to Shelby Blevins' performance, Gracie Preece (two hits, three RBIs), Ella Fitzpatrick (single, three RBIs), Dani Crum (two hits, one RBI), Abby Nelson (one hit, one RBI), Kensley Feltner (one run, one RBI), Bree Jones (one RBI) and Kaitlyn Meddings (one hit) contributed at the plate for the Bulldogs.
Both Lawrence County and Floyd Central advanced to the 15th Region Softball Tournament.
