Blevins pitches shutout for Bulldogs in region semifinals

LICK CREEK — Lawrence County junior left-hander Bryce Blevins pitched a shutout as the Bulldogs blanked Paintsville 7-0 in the semifinals of the 15th Region Baseball Tournament at East Ridge High School on Sunday, June 6.

Blevins allowed zero runs on two hits over seven innings, registering 11 strikeouts while giving up zero walks

Connor Fugate started on the mound for Paintsville and took the pitching loss. Fugate pitched two and a third innings, allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking one.

Lawrence County outhit former 57th District counterpart Paintsville 12-2.

Blevins, Jake Derifield and Abner Collinsworth each recorded multiple hits for the Bulldogs. Blevins and Derifield paced Lawrence County at the plate, providing three hits apiece in the Bulldogs' shutout win

Aiding Lawrence County's offensive effort, Blevins, Ethan Whit and Jacob Fletcher drove in one run apiece.

Blevins doubled for the Bulldogs.

Defensively, Paintsville committed four errors.

In the other game played in the region baseball tournament semifinals, Johnson Central beat Belfry 7-4.
