Lawrence County blanks Betsy Layne 20-0

STANVILLE — Behind a combined no-hitter from pitchers Taylor Blevins and Ella Smith, Lawrence County blanked Betsy Layne 20-0 in three innings in a 58th District softball game on Thursday, May 16.

A perennial title contender, Lawrence County notched its 25th win in the 2024 high school softball season. With the win, Lawrence County improved to 25-4.

Blevins started in the circle for Lawrence County and claimed the win. Blevins pitched two innings and recorded three strikeouts.

Closing out the game, Smith pitched the final inning and struck out one Betsy Layne batter.

Hailey Carroll started in the circle for Betsy Layne and suffered the loss.

Along with Carroll, Hannah Mitchell pitched for the Lady Cats.

Lawrence County scored 20 runs on 16 hits. Bree Jones (four hits, three RBIs), Dani Crum (two hits, four RBIs), Addalyn Woods (two hits, one RBI), Brooklyn Ellis (one hit, two RBIs), Abby Maynard (one hit, two RBIs), Braylee Triplett (one hit, two RBIs), Zoe Bartley (one hit, two RBIs), Hallie Adkins (one hit, one RBI), Jada Patton (one hit, one RBI), Jaylee Maxie (one hit), Abby Nelson (one hit) and Lexi Crum (one RBI) each produced offensively for the Lady Bulldogs. Showing power at the plate, Ellis homered in Lawrence County’s shutout win.
