Bulldogs knock off Golden Eagles 5-3

PAINTSVILLE — Lawrence County knocked off host Johnson Central 5-3 in its regular season finale on Wednesday, May 15.

Logan Whisenant earned the win on the mound for the Bulldogs. Whisenant pitched one and one-third innings, striking out one Johnson Central batter.

Boedy Maynard started on the mound for Lawrence County and pitched five and two-thirds innings. Maynard recorded three strikeouts.

Kyle Rose started on the mound for Johnson Central and took the loss. Rose pitched three innings and struck out two Lawrence County batters.

Following Rose, Cameron Kelsey pitched four innings in relief for the Golden Eagles. Kelsey logged five strikeouts.

Lawrence County scored five runs on nine hits. Whisenant (one hit, two RBIs), Maynard (one hit, one RBI), Gray Derifield (three hits), Cody Crum (one hit, one RBI), Brady Caudill (one hit, one RBI), Talan Pollock (one hit) and Colin Howard (one hit) each delivered offensively for the Bulldogs.

Johnson Central plated three runs on six hits. Boston Crace (two hits), Kaleb Callaham (one hit, one RBI), Chase Preece (one hit, one RBI), Kyler Callaham (one hit) and Ethan McCarty (one hit) each chipped in offensively for the Golden Eagles.
