LOUISA — Lawrence County shut out Betsy Layne 16-0 in three innings in a 58th District softball game on Thursday, March 21.

Lawrence County pitcher Brooklyn Ellis pitched a perfect game and claimed the win in the circle. Ellis struck out eight of the nine batters she faced during the 58th District softball game.

Betsy Layne pitcher Hannah Mitchell suffered the loss.

Taking control of the district matchup, Lawrence County plated six runs in the bottom half of the first inning.

Lawrence County put the game out of Betsy Layne’s reach in the second inning, scoring 10 runs.

Lawrence County plated 16 runs on 13 hits. Crum (two hits, four RBIs), Ellis (two hits, three RBIs), Bree Jones (three hits), Jada Patton (two hits, two RBIs), Addalyn Woods (two hits, two RBIs), Gracie Preece (two hits, one RBI), Hallie Adkins (one RBI) and Abby Nelson (one RBI) each excelled offensively for the Lady Bulldogs. Both Crum and Woods homered.

Defensively, Lawrence County turned in an error-free performance.
