PIKEVILLE — Registering its 20th win, Lawrence County blanked Belfry 3-0 in the opening round of the 15th Region Volleyball Tournament at Pikeville High School on Tuesday, Oct. 24.

After notching the win, Lawrence County improved to 20-9. Lawrence County advanced to the semifinals of the 15th Region Volleyball Tournament for the first time.

The loss eliminated Belfry from the 15th Region Volleyball Tournament. After suffering the season-ending loss, Belfry dropped to 12-12.

Returning to the win column after finishing runner-up to Floyd Central in the 58th District Volleyball Tournament, Lawrence County defeated Belfry 25-21, 28-26, 25-20.

Belfry entered the 15th Region Volleyball Tournament as the 60th District champion.

In the other opening round matches in the 15th Region Volleyball Tournament, it was Paintsville 3, Pikeville 1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-13, 26-24); Floyd Central 3, Pike County Central 0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-7) and Johnson Central 3, East Ridge 0 (25-19, 25-10, 25-15).
