Lawrence County beats Belfry, Floyd Central

LOUISA — On its way to reaching the 2A, Section 8 Softball Tournament title game, Lawrence County claimed wins over Belfry and Floyd Central.
Lawrence County 9, Belfry 7
Lawrence County beat Belfry 9-7 in the opening round of the 2A, Section 8 Softball Tournament on Monday, April 11.
Allie Triplett picked up the win in the circle for the Bulldogs. Pitching in relief, Triplett allowed one hit in two scoreless innings while giving up two walks and logging two strikeouts.
Taylor Blevins started in the circle for the Bulldogs. Blevins recorded five strikeouts.
Belfry pitcher Molly Fahm tossed a complete game and suffered the loss. Fahman registered six strikeouts.
Lawrence County scored nine runs on eight hits.
Bree Jones and Gracie Preece provided two hits and two RBIs apiece for the Bulldogs.
Contributing at the plate for Lawrence County, Kensley Feltner homered and drove in two runs.
Fahm (two hits, two RBIs), Natalie Fite (three hits), Cameron Childers (two hits, four RBIs) and Linzee Phillips (two hits) provided Belfry’s offense. Childers homered and drove in four runs.
Lawrence County 6, Floyd Central 4
Lawrence County held on to defeat upset-minded Floyd Central 6-4 in the semifinals of the 2A, Section 8 Softball Tournament on Tuesday, April 12.
Pitching in relief for Lawrence County, Allie Triplett earned the win in the circle. Triplett pitched four scoreless innings, holding Floyd Central hitless while recording three strikeouts.
Caydn Roberson suffered the loss in the circle for the Jaguars. Roberson pitched a complete game, allowing six runs on 10 hits and five walks while recording one strikeout.
Bree Jones stared in the circle for Lawrence County. Jones pitched three innings, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while tallying two strikeouts.
Triplett, Jones and Shelby Blevins each recorded two hits for the Bulldogs.
Kensley Feltner homered and delivered two RBIs for Lawrence County.
Jones, Blevins and Danielle Crum each drove in one run for Lawrence County in the victory.
Emma Dudleson homered and drove in three runs for the Jaguars.
Chelsea Johnson provided two hits for Floyd Central in the tournament game.
