OWENSBORO — Lawrence County outlasted Christian Academy of Louisville 9-7 in the semifinals of the 2A Baseball State Tournament at Jack Hicks Field at Shifley Park on Saturday, April 23.
After trailing throughout the tournament game, Lawrence County pushed across seven runs in the top half of the seventh inning.
Blue Fletcher earned the win on the mound for the Bulldogs. Fletcher pitched one and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on one hit while striking out one.
Jake Derifield and Bryce Blevins helped to close out the game in relief for the Bulldogs. Blevins recorded the last three outs to claim the save.
Luke Patton started on the mound for the Bulldogs. Patton surrendered five runs on two hits over three innings, striking out four.
Jacob Price took the loss on the mound for the Centurions. Price allowed nine runs on nine hits over six and two-thirds innings, registering seven strikeouts.
Jack Perdue threw one-third of an inning out of the bullpen for Christian Academy-Louisville.
The Bulldogs doubled up Christian Academy of Louisville 10-5 in the hit column.
Patton and Fletcher each collected multiple hits for the Bulldogs. Patton went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Lawrence County’s offensive attack. The productive Patton belted a grand slam and collected four RBIs.
Both Blevins and Patton doubled in the Bulldogs’ win.
Defensively, Lawrence County and Christian Academy of Louisville combined to commit five errors.

Lawrence County leveled Bell County 19-4 in three innings in the 2A Baseball State Tournament at Jack Hicks Field at Shifley Park on Friday, April 22.
Thriving early, Lawrence County erupted for 10 runs in the bottom half of the first inning.
Eli Fletcher claimed the win on the mound for the Bulldogs. Fletcher pitched two and two-thirds innings.
Helping his pitch cause at the plate, Fletcher doubled and drove in two runs.
Bryce Blevins and Abner Collinsworth added two hits apiece for the Bulldogs. Blevins delivered four RBIs while Nick Collinsworth and Abner Collinsworth each drove in two runs as part of Lawrence County’s offensive onslaught.
