WEST LIBERTY — Lawrence County knocked off former 16th Region rival Morgan County 59-47 on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Winning on the road, Lawrence County shot 43.9 percent (25-of-57) from the field. The Lady bulldogs made two of 15 three-point field goal attempts.
Productive in a key category, Lawrence County shot 70 percent (seven-of-10) from the free throw line.
Dominating inside, Lawrence County outrebounded Morgan County 38-18.
Recording a double-double, Sophie Adkins scored 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Lawrence County to the win.
Along with Adkins reaching double figures, Abby Nelson netted 10 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
Narrowly missing double figures for Lawrence County, Leandra Curnutte scored nine points while Jada Patton and Kaison Ward added seven points apiece.
Completing Lawrence County’s scoring, Abby Maynard added four points and Hallie Adkins contributed one point.
Morgan County shot 38.6 percent (17-of-44) from the field. The Lady Cougars made six of 19 three-pointers, shooting 31.6 percent from three-point range.
Morgan County shot only 43.8 percent (seven-of-15) from the free throw line.
Emma Clinger scored 15 points to lead Morgan County in the matchup. Morgan County featured three scorers in double figures. McKenna Smith netted 11 points for Morgan County while Maci Adkins added 10 points.
Accounting for the rest of Morgan County’s scoring, Autumn Ross contributed seven points and Gracie Hampton added four points.
