Lady Eagles ranked first in Preseason 15th Region Girls’ Basketball Rankings

LOUISA — Reigning champion Johnson Central is ranked first in the Preseason 15th Region Girls’ Basketball Rankings.

Johnson Central defeated Lawrence County 64-41 in the 2024-25 15th Region Girls’ Basketball Tournament title game. Head coach Jim Hicks guided Johnson Central to the 2024-25 15th Region girls’ basketball title.

Johnson Central put together the best record among 15th Region girls’ basketball teams in the 2024-25 prep hoops season, finishing 27-4.

Martin County, Paintsville, Floyd Central, Pikeville, Lawrence County, Prestonsburg, Shelby Valley, Besty Layne and Phelps are ranked behind Johnson Central in the Preseason 15th Region Girls’ Basketball Rankings.

The 15th Region Basketball Coaches Association released the preseason girls’ rankings, which feature at least one team from each of the four districts.

The 2025-26 girls’ high school basketball season tipped off on Monday, Dec. 1.
