Lady Eagles pull away to beat Boyd County

PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central pulled away to beat Boyd County 71-41 on Thursday, Feb. 19.

The Lady Eagles earned their eighth straight win in the second half of the 2025-26 girls’ high school basketball season. Johnson Central improved to 16-5 after posting the win.

The Lady Eagles separated themselves from Boyd County early in the matchup between perennial region title contenders.

Johnson Central shot 54.5 percent (30-of-55) from the field. The Lady Eagles shot 46.2 percent (six-of-13) from three-point range.

Johnson Central shot 71.4 percent (five-of-seven) from the free throw line.

Karlea Stanley and Allie Slone combined to lead Johnson Central, scoring 18 points apiece for the Lady Eagles.

Nearly reaching double figures for Johnson Central, Martina Conley, Kamryn Duncan and Emma Ferguson each scored eight points.

Emma McKenzie (six points), Julie Dials (three points) and Kate Collins (two points) followed, rounding out Johnson Central’s scoring.

Johnson Central and Boyd County met for the first time since December 2024.
