Golden Eagles upend Huntington Expression Prep (W.Va.)

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Johnson Central defeated Huntington Expression Prep (W.Va.) 90-81 in a regular season finale on Friday, Feb. 20.

The Golden Eagles improved to 23-5 after notching the win.

Johnson Central shot 56.4 percent (31-of-55) from the field. The Golden Eagles shot 48.0 percent (12-of-25) from three-point range.  

Johnson Central shot 69.6 percent (16-of-23) from the free throw line.

Brayden Shepherd led Johnson Central to the win. Shepherd connected on eight of 10 three-point field goal attempts and scored 32 points for the Golden Eagles.

Following Shepherd in Johnson Central’s scoring column, Austin Slone and Ethan Cole netted 13 points apiece.

Contributing to a balanced offensive attack for Johnson Central, Cooper Blair added 10 points.

Barely missing double figures, Mason McKenzie netted nine points for the Golden Eagles.

Eight players worked themselves into Johnson Central’s scoring column. Kyle Rose (six points), Jaidon Daniel (four points) and Andrew Collins (three points) also produced offensively for the Golden Eagles.

Johnson Central exited the regular season on an eight-game winning streak.
