Lady Eagles claim 2A, Section 8 title

PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central shut out Letcher County Central 8-0 in the title match of the 2A, Section 8 Girls’ Soccer Tournament at Coach Jim Matney Field on Thursday, Aug. 29.

Madelyn Burchett scored three goals to lead Johnson Central to the championship-clinching victory.

Along with Burchett, Kiersten Sagraves (two goals, one assist), Lily Jarrell (two goals), McKenley Hill (one goal, one assist) and Aniyah Milan (one assist) contributed offensively for the Lady Eagles.

Goalkeeper Abigail Ramey paced Johnson Central defensively, recording a shutout.

Following the win, Johnson Central advances to the 2A Girls’ Soccer State Tournament.

Johnson Central 8, Perry County Central 0: Johnson Central blanked Perry County Central 8-0 in the semifinals of the 2A, Section 8 Girls’ Soccer Tournament at Coach Jim Matney Field on Wednesday, Aug. 28.

Braylee Murphy scored four goals to lead Johnson Central to the win.

Finishing directly behind Murphy in Johnson Central’s scoring column, Kiersten Sagraves netted three goals.

Rounding out Johnson Central’s scoring, Lauren Arrowood added one goal.

Chipping in offensively for Johnson Central, Martina Conley, Corbyn Davis and Lily Jarrell distributed one assist apiece.

Defensively for Johnson Central, goalkeeper Abigail Ramey recorded a shutout. Ramey delivered one save for the Lady Eagles.
