Bulldogs fall to Perry Central, suffer first loss in 2024 season

HAZARD — Lawrence County suffered its first loss in the 2024 high school football season as Perry County Central prevailed 35-21 on Friday, Sept. 6.

Following the loss, Lawrence County slipped to 2-1.

Perry County Central improved to 2-1 after registering the win.

Notching its second straight win, Perry County Central rushed 46 times for 339 yards and five touchdowns.

Kaiden Gibson paced Perry County Central, rushing 23 times for 211 yards and three touchdowns.

Aiding Perry County Central’s offensive attack, Colin Combs rushed 18 times for 106 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively for Perry County Central, Bryson Johnson tallied a game-high 11 tackles.

Luke Fetherolf led Lawrence County through the air, completing 13 passes for 180 yards and one touchdown. Chipping in on the ground, Fetherolf rushed three times for 25 yards.

Gray Derifield made three receptions for 92 yards and one touchdown to lead the Bulldogs in receiving.

Lawrence County rushed 19 times for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Kaden Johnson took 12 carries for 42 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs in rushing.

Kicker Brayden Queen paced Lawrence County on special teams. Queen connected on each of his three extra-point kick attempts.

Lawrence County (2-1) is scheduled to host Harlan County (1-2) for its next game on Friday, Sept. 20.
