PRESTONSBURG — Lawrence County is once again the frontrunner in 2A, Section 8.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Perry County Central 6-1 in the 2A, Section 8 Softball Tournament title game at StoneCrest on Thursday, April 9.

Taylor Blevins pitched for Lawrence County and earned the win in the circle. Blevins held Perry County Central to one run on five hits and recorded 10 strikeouts.

Lawrence County scored six runs on 10 hits. Players from throughout Lawrence County’s lineup delivered at the plate. The players contributing at the plate for Lawrence County included Blevins (one hit, one RBI), Addalyn Woods (two hits, two RBIs), Ella Smith (two hits, one RBI), Jada Patton (two hits) and Lexi Crum (one hit). Both Kitts and Woods homered.  

The sectional championship-clinching win allowed Lawrence County to advance to the 2A Softball State Tournament, which will be held in Owensboro. Lawrence County is scheduled to meet North Oldham in the opening round of the 2A Softball State Tournament at Jack C. Fisher Park in Owensboro at 1:45 pm. on Friday. April 17.
