Lady Bulldogs push past Perry County Central

LOUISA — Lawrence County pushed past Perry County Central during the semifinals of the 2A, Section 8 Girls’ Basketball Tournament, winning 60-55 on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
After notching the win, Lawrence County advanced to the 2A, Section 8 Girls’ Basketball Tournament title game.
Lawrence County edged Perry County Central 10-9 in the opening quarter.
However, Perry County Central moved ahead during the second quarter and led 29-22 at halftime.
Finishing strong, Lawrence County outscored Perry County Central 38-26 in the second half to claim the win.
Lawrence County shot 48.8 percent (20-of-41) from the field. The Lady Bulldogs made two of nine three-point field goal attempts.
Lawrence County shot 58.1 percent (18-of-31) from the free throw line.
Jada Patton led Lawrence County to the win. Patton connected on 12 of 16 two-point field goal attempts and poured in a game-high 30 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
Joining Patton in double figures for Lawrence County, Brooke Marcum netted 13 points.
Six players provided scoring for Lawrence County in its win. Gracie Woods (six points), Maddison Artrip (five points), Caroline See (four points) and Jenna Murphy (two points) also produced offensively for the Lady Bulldogs.
Perry County Central shot 46.7 percent (21-of-45) from the field. The Lady Commodores shot 35.0 percent (seven-of-20) from three-point range.
Perry County Central shot 50.0 percent (six-of-12) from the free throw line.
Ryleigh Feltner scored a team-high 17 points for the Lady Commodores.
Following Feltner in Perry County Central’s scoring column, Brooklyn Cornett tallied 15 points.
Narrowly missing double figures, Emily Noble added nine points for the Lady Commodores.
Behind Noble, Ava Cornett (seven points), Havyn Hoskins (six points) and Ariana Johnson (one point) were the other scorers for Perry County Central.
