PIKEVILLE — Martin County outlasted Belfry 81-78 in overtime during the semifinals of the 15th Region All “A” Classic at Appalachian Wireless on Friday, Jan. 9.
With the win, Martin County advanced to the 15th Region All “A” Classic title game.
Junior guard Braxton Keathley connected on a three-point field goal at the buzzer in overtime to lift Martin County to a thrilling win.
Martin County shot 50.0 percent (28-of-56) from the field. The Cardinals shot 39.5 percent (15-of-38) from three-point range.
Martin County shot 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the free throw line.
Keathley led Martin County, scoring a game-high 31 points for the Cardinals.
Following Keathley in Martin County’s scoring column, Bryson Dials netted 22 points while Eli Mills tallied 15 points.
Martin County featured five scorers. Brayden Marcum added seven points for Martin County while Alan Moore contributed six points.
Belfry lost despite shooting 60.4 percent (29-of-48) from the field. The Pirates shot 75.0 percent (15-of-20) from three-point range, thriving beyond the arc.
Belfry, which featured six scorers, shot 50.0 percent (five-of-10) from the free throw line.
Brody Little (24 points), Bo Williams (19 points) and Carter Jude (14 points) each reached double figures in scoring for the Pirates.
Along with the three scorers in double figures for Belfry, Bryce Hagy (eight points), Peyton Owens (seven points) and Colten Young (six points) produced offensively.
