Lady Bulldogs defeat Pike County Central

PIKEVILLE — Lawrence County defeated Pike County Central 61-52 in a non-district girls’ basketball game on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 6-8 after registering the win. Lawrence County returned to the win column after coming up short to Johnson Central in the 2A, Section 8 Girls’ Basketball Tournament title game three days earlier.
Former district rivals Lawrence County and Pike County Central met for the first time in the 2025-26 girls’ high school basketball season.
Lawrence County shot 39.3 percent (24-of-61) from the field. The Lady Bulldogs made seven of 27 three-point field goal attempts.
Lawrence County connected on six of 16 free throw attempts in its victory.
Brooke Marcum led Lawrence County to the win. Marcum drained eight of 11 shots from inside the arc and scored a game-high 25 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
Following Marcum in Lawrence County’s scoring column, Jada Patton netted 17 points.
Joining Marcum and Patton in double figures for the Lady Bulldogs, Maddison Artrip scored 15 points. Artrip paced Lawrence County inside, claiming eight rebounds.
Rounding out Lawrence County’s individual scoring, Gracie Woods added four points.
Familiar 15th Region rivals Lawrence County and Pike County Central aren’t scheduled to meet again in the 2025-26 girls’ high school basketball season.
