LOUISA — Lawrence County won all three of its games during the opening week of the 2023 high school softball season, defeating Pike County Central, Magoffin County and Ashland.

Lawrence County 10, Pike County Central 0 (5 innings)

Lawrence County shut out visiting Pike County Central 10-0 in five innings in a high school softball season opener on Monday, March 13.

Taylor Blevins pitched a two-hit shutout to lead Lawrence County to the win. Blevins recorded eight strikeouts.

Pike County Central pitcher Chloe Hannah suffered the loss in the circle.

Lawrence County, which entered the 2023 high school softball season ranked first in the 15th Region, scored 10 runs on seven hits.

Jaylee Maxie (two hits, one RBI), Shelby Blevins (one hit, one RBI), Bree Jones (one hit, one RBI), Danielle Crum (one hit), Allie Triplett (one hit, two RBIs), Abby Maynard (one hit, one RBI), Abby Nelson (two RBIs) and Gracie Preece (one RBI) each contributed at the plate for host Lawrence County in the shutout win.

Lawrence County 14, Magoffin County 2 (5 innings)

Lawrence County pulled away to defeat Magoffin County 14-2 in five innings in a high school softball game on Wednesday, March 15.

Bree Jones picked up the pitching win for the Lady Bulldogs. Jones allowed two runs on six hits while recording four strikeouts.

Visiting Lawrence County plated 14 runs on 17 hits.

Lawrence County’s offensive attack included Jones (two hits, one RBI), Danielle Crum (four hits, three RBIs), Abby Nelson (three hits, two RBIs), Allie Triplett (two hits, four RBIs), Jaylee Maxie (two hits, two RBIs), Abby Maynard (two hits), Shelby Blevins (one hit) and Kensley Feltner (one hit).

Lawrence County 14, Ashland 0 (5 innings)

Registering another shutout win, Lawrence County blanked Ashland 14-0 in five innings on Thursday, March 16.

Lawrence County pitcher Taylor Blevins pitched a four-hit shutout and claimed the win in the circle. Blevins struck out two in her winning performance.

Bree Jones (four hits, one RBI), Kensley Feltner (two hits, three RBIs), Danielle Crum (two hits, one RBI), Allie Triplett (two hits, one RBI), Abby Nelson (one hit, three RBIs), Jada Patton (one hit, two RBIs) and Shelby Blevins (one hit, two RBIs) each produced at plate for Lawrence County in the shutout win.
