Lady Bulldogs drop game to Perry County Central

LOUISA — Lawrence County came up short as Perry County Central won 8-5 on Thursday, April 30.

The Lady Bulldogs slipped to 14-8 after suffering the loss.

Lawrence County scored first and led 4-0 through two innings. However, Perry County Central outscored Lawrence County 8-1 over the last four innings to pull away for the win.

Jossie Mullins pitched a complete game for Perry County Central and earned the win in the circle. Mullins recorded five strikeouts.

Brinley Baisden pitched the last four innings in relief for Lawrence County and took the loss in the circle.

Taylor Blevins, who is among the top high school softball players in the 15th Region, started in the circle for Lawrence County and pitched the first three innings. Blevins recorded three strikeouts.

Perry County Central scored eight runs on 11 hits. Carolyne Moberly homered and drove in four of Perry County Central’s eight runs on two hits. Another productive batter, Averie Ratliff, collected three hits for the Lady Commodores. Additional offensive contributors for Perry County Central included Mullins (one hit), Mikayla Shepherd (two hits, one RBI), McKenna Fugate (two hits) and Emily Waddell (one hit, one RBI). Both Shepherd and Fugate doubled for the Lady Commodores.

Reigning 15th Region softball champion Lawrence County scored five runs on six hits. Jada Patton (two hits, three RBIs), Addalyn Woods (two hits, one RBI), Ella Smith (one hit) and Aleaha Gillispie (one hit) each contributed offensively for the Lady Bulldogs. Showing power at the plate, Patton homered. Both Patton and Woods doubled for the Lady Bulldogs.

Lawrence County notched a win over Perry County Central earlier in the season. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Perry County Central 6-1 in the 2A, Section 8 Softball Tournament championship game at StoneCrest on Thursday, April 9.
