Lady Bulldogs defeat Tug Valley (W.Va.) on Senior Night

LOUISA — Winning on its Senior Night, Lawrence County defeated visiting Tug Valley (W.Va.) 11-1 in six innings Tuesday, April 25.

Lawrence County, which notched its 20th win in the 2023 high school softball season, scored first and never trailed. The Lady Bulldogs led 3-0 before Tug Valley pushed across one run in the top half of the fourth inning.

Leading 6-1, Lawrence County scored five runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning to pull away for the win.

Lawrence County pitcher Taylor Blevins claimed the win in the circle. Blevins limited Tug Valley to one earned run on six hits while recording five strikeouts over six innings. The Lawrence County pitcher threw 89 pitches.

Tug Valley pitcher Kinna Justice suffered the loss in the circle.

Lawrence County (20-5) scored 11 runs on 13 hits. Bree Jones (three hits, four RBIs), Gracie Preece (three hits, three RBIs), Kensley Feltner (two hits, two RBIs), Dani Crum (two hits, one RBI), Allie Triplett (two hits) and Abby Maynard (one hit) each excelled offensively for Lawrence County in its win. Providing a lift at the plate for Lawrence County, Preece homered.

Rivals from bordering states, Lawrence County and Tug Valley met for the first time in the 2023 high school softball season.
