Bulldogs knock off Wildcats

ROBINSON CREEK — Lawrence County defeated 15th Region rival Shelby Valley 86-75 in a mid-season boys’ high school basketball game on Monday, Jan. 12.

The Bulldogs and Wildcats met for the first time in the 2025-26 boys’ high school basketball season. Lawrence County and Shelby Valley hadn’t met since Dec. 21, 2023.

Reigning 15th Region champion Lawrence County shot 51.8 percent (29-of-56) from the field. The Bulldogs shot 35.0 percent (seven-of-20) from three-point range.

Lawrence County shot 67.7 percent (21-of-31) from the free throw line.

Hayden Perry led a group of five Lawrence County scorers in double figures. Perry netted 21 points for the Bulldogs,

Delivering a double-double for Lawrence County, Kaden Johnson scored 20 points and claimed 11 rebounds,

Supplying another double-double, CJ Waer scored 16 points and claimed 13 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

As part of a balanced offensive attack for Lawrence County, Caden Muncy and Kaiden Harris netted 11 points apiece

Contributing to the win, Andrew Ratcliff (four points) and Isaah Hughes (three points) also scored for the Bulldogs.

Lawrence County and Shelby Valley aren’t scheduled to meet again in the 2025-26 boys’ high school basketball season.
