Lady Bulldogs defeat Elliott County for first win

SANDY HOOK — Lawrence County pulled way to defeat Elliott County 59-2 for its first win in the 2025-26 girls’ high school basketball season on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 1-2 after registering the win.

Lawrence County shot 37.3 percent (25-of-67) from the field. The Lady Bulldogs made five of 20 three-point field goal attempts.

Lawrence County shot 50.0 percent (four-of-eight) from the free throw line.

A total of 11 different players provided scoring for the Lady Bulldogs. Leah Muncy (nine points), Gracie Woods (eight points), Emalynn Kitts (seven points), Jenna Murphy (seven points), Lauren Sammons (six points), Maddison Artrip (five points), Kaylee Spillman (five points), Caroline See (four points), Addalyn Woods (three points), Annabelle Hayes (three points) and Lilly Fitzpatrick (two points) each contributed offensively for Lawrence County in its convincing win.

Offensively for Elliott County, Chloe Rose scored two points.

Lawrence County and Elliott County are former 16th Region rivals.
