Lady Bulldogs defeat Clay County in 2A State Tournament

OWENSBORO — Lawrence County defeated Clay County 10-4 during the 2A Softball State Tournament at Jack C. Fisher Park on Friday, April 17.

Brinley Baisden pitched for Lawrence County and earned the win in the circle. Baisden recorded six strikeouts.

Lawrence County scored 10 runs on 12 hits. Baisden (one RBI), Emalynn Kitts (three hits, four RBIs), Lexi Crum (three hits, one RBI), Jada Patton (two hits, one RBI), Gracie Woods (two hits), Addalyn Woods (one hit, two RBIs) and Leah Branham (one hit) were each productive offensively for the Lady Bulldogs. Displaying power at the plate in multiple appearances, Kitts homered twice.

Lawrence County bounced back to win after dropping a game to North Oldham earlier in the day.

North Oldham 3, Lawrence County 2: Lawrence County came up short as North Oldham held on to win 3-2 during the initial round of the 2A Softball State Tournament at Jack C. Fisher Park in Owensboro on Friday, April 17.

Brinley Baisden pitched two and one-third innings in relief for Lawrence County and suffered the loss in the circle.

Braylee Triplett started in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs. Triplett pitched four and one-third innings.

Together, Baisden and Triplett recorded three strikeouts.

Lawrence County scored two runs on five hits. Jada Patton (one hit, one RBI), Anna Compton (one hit, one RBI), Millie Sammons (one hit), Lexi Crum (one hit) and Emalynn Kitts (one hit) each connected at the plate for Lawrence County during the tournament game. Compton doubled while Patton tripled.
