CHARLESTON, S.C. — Lawrence County defeated Morgantown (W.Va.) 64-53 to capture the Carolina Invitational title on Friday, Dec. 30.

Earlier in the holiday tournament, Lawrence County notched wins over Hilton Head Christian (S.C.) and T.L. Hanna (S.C.).

Morgantown (W.Va.) 53

Senior guard Kensley Feltner scored 27 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Lawrence County past Morgantown (W.Va.) 64-53 in the title game of the Carolina Invitational on Friday, Dec. 30.

Lawrence County shot 39.6 percent (21-of-53) from the field. The Lady Bulldogs hit seven of 20 three-point field goal attempts, shooting 35 percent from beyond the arc.

Lawrence County shot 88.2 percent (15-of-17) from the free throw line.

Sophie Adkins accompanied Feltner in double figures for the Lady Bulldogs, scoring 14 points.

Narrowly missing double figures for Lawrence County, Kaison Ward added nine points while Leandra Curnutte chipped in seven points.

Lawrence County received scoring from six different players as Abby Maynard (four points) and Emmallee Holt (three points) contributed offensively.

Lawrence County 62,

Hilton Head Christian (S.C.) 34

Lawrence County rolled past Hilton Head Christian (S.C.) 62-34 in the second round of the Carolina Invitational on Thursday, Dec. 29.

The Lady Bulldogs shot 37.5 percent (21-of-56) from the field in the win. Lawrence County converted on four of 19 three-point field goal attempts.

The Lady Bulldogs shot 76.2 percent (16-of-21) from the free throw line.

Kensley Feltner scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Lawrence County to the win.

Joining Feltner in double figures for Lawrence County, Kaison Ward scored 11 points and Sophie Adkins netted 10 points.

Lawrence County received scoring from 10 different players. Leandra Curnutte (eight points), Jada Patton (five points), Emmallee Holt (three points), Caroline See (two points), Brylee Stafford (two points), Madison Artrip (one point) and Abby Maynard (one point) supplied the rest of Lawrence County’s scoring.

T.L. Hanna (S.C.) 58

Kentucky Miss Basketball candidate Kensley Feltner provided a game-high double-double of 41 points and 16 rebounds to lead Lawrence County over T.L. Hanna (S.C.) 65-58 in the opening round of the Carolina Invitational on Wednesday, Dec. 28.

Lawrence County shot 47.1 percent (24-of-51) from the field in the win.

In addition to Feltner reaching double figures in scoring for Lawrence County, Kaison Ward netted 11 points.

Aiding Lawrence County offensively, Sophie Adkins tossed in six points, Abby Nelson added five points and Leandra Curnutte contributed two points.
