Golden Eagles knock off Musketeers 47-42

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Johnson Central knocked off Greenup County 47-42 in the second round of the Carolina Invitational on Thursday, Dec. 29.

The Golden Eagles shot 33.3 percent from the field. Johnson Central’s field goal shooting effort included finishing one-of-11 from three-point range.

The Golden Eagles shot 80 percent (24 of 30) from the free throw line.

Faring well inside, Johnson Central outrebounded Greenup County 29-24.

Austin Slone scored 18 points to lead Johnson Central to the win.

Joining Slone in double figures for Johnson Central, Ryan Rose registered a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Contributing offensively, Mason Lawson (six points), David Fink (six points), Connor Hopkins (three points) and Jacob Grimm (two points) provided Johnson Central’s additional scoring.

Greenup County shot 30.2 percent (16 of 53) from the field. The Musketeers finished three-of-12 from three-point range.

Greenup County shot 63.6 percent (seven of 11) from the free-throw line.

Carson Wiremen netted 11 points to lead the Musketeers.

Active offensively, Bradley Adkins (nine points), RJ Veach (eight points), Bryson Chandley (four points), Kasey Gammon (three points), Ethan Gibson (three points), Cohen Underwood (two points) and Eli Adkins (two points) followed Wireman in Greenup County’s scoring column.
