LOUISA — Lawrence County opened the 2024 high school softball season with back-to-back shutout wins at home over Floyd Central and Cross Lanes Christian (W.Va.).

First-year head coach Justin Adkins is guiding the Lady Bulldogs.

Lawrence County 15, Floyd Central 0 (3 innings): Lawrence County blanked 58th District rival Floyd Central 15-0 in three innings in its season opener on Wednesday, March 13.

Taylor Blevins pitched a no-hitter for the Lady Bulldogs. Earning the win in the circle, Blevins recorded seven strikeouts.

Lawrence County scored 15 runs on 11 hits. Jada Patton (two hits, five RBIs), Gracie Preece (two hits, four RBIs), Dani Crum (two hits, one RBI), Ella Smith (two hits), Abby Nelson (one hit, one RBI), Abby Maynard (one hit, one RBI) and Brooklyn Ellis (one hit, one RBI) each delivered at the plate for Lawrence County in its district win. Preece doubled and tripled for the Lady Bulldogs. Showing her speed on the basepaths, Patton legged out two triples.

Lawrence County 15, Cross Lanes Christian (W.Va.) 0 (3 innings): Claiming its second straight shutout win, Lawrence County blanked Cross Lanes Christian (W.Va.) 15-0 in three innings on Thursday, March 14.

Brooklyn Ellis pitched a one-hit shutout for Lawrence County and earned the win in the circle. Ellis recorded seven strikeouts.

Lawrence County scored 15 runs on 16 hits. Ellis (three hits, two RBIs), Dani Crum (three hits, four RBIs), Jada Patton (two hits, two RBIs), Gracie Preece (two hits, one RBI), Addalyn Woods (two hits, one RBI), Abby Nelson (two hits, one RBI), Hallie Adkins (one hit, three RBIs) and Taylor Blevins (one hit) each produced at the plate for Lawrence County in its win. Crum, who has signed with the University of Pikeville, doubled and tripled.
