Bulldogs drop season opener to Musketeers

LLOYD — Lawrence County was limited as Greenup County pulled away to win 14-4 in five innings in a high school baseball season opener on Monday, March 11.

Greenup County starting pitcher Gavin Roy earned the win on the mound.

Following Roy, Kasey Gammon and Cohen Underwood pitched in relief for the Musketeers.

Lawrence County starting pitcher Jake Derifield suffered the loss.

In addition to Derifield, Braxton Davis and Tyger Cavins pitched for the Bulldogs.

Roy (one RBI), Underwood (two hits, one RBI), Hunter Holbrook (two hits, one RBI), Bradley Adkins (one hit, three RBIs), Colin Alexander (one hit, one RBI), Gage Gullett (two RBIs) and Ty Logan (one RBI) each excelled at the plate for the Musketeers.

Talan Pollock led Lawrence County at the plate, delivering a three-run home run.

Aiding Lawrence County offensively, Colin Howard and Eli Fletcher added one hit apiece. Howard drove in one run for the Bulldogs.
