Knott County Central turns back Lawrence County

HINDMAN — Knott County Central defeated visiting Lawrence County 8-2 on Thursday, May 2.

The Patriots took control early and led 5-0 at the end of the second inning.

Austyn Collins pitched for Knott County Central and claimed the win on the mound. Collins recorded three strikeouts over seven innings.

Boedy Maynard pitched for Lawrence County and suffered the loss. Maynard struck out three Knott County Central batters over six innings.

Knott County Central scored eight runs on 12 hits. Collins (two hits, two RBIs), Jayden Huff (four hits), Jaden Amburgey (two hits, one RBI), Connor Napier (two hits, one RBI), Mason Amburgey (one hit, two RBIs), Michael Parks (one hit) and Brayden Hall (one hit) each contributed offensively for the Patriots. Huff, who collected four hits, doubled in Knott County Central’s win.

Lawrence County plated two runs on nine hits. Eli Fletcher (three hits), Logan Whisenant (two hits, one RBI), Abner Collinsworth (two hits), Gray Derifield (one hit, one RBI) and Cody Crum (one hit) accounted for Lawrence County’s offense. Both Whisenant and Collinsworth doubled for the Bulldogs.
