UNION — The Johnson Central wrestling team won a semi-state championship at Ryle High School on Saturday, Feb. 18.

The top five teams in the Ryle-hosted KHSAA Semi-State Wrestling Tournament were as follows: 1. Johnson Central, 229.5; 2. Great Crossing, 216; 3. Ryle 154.5; 4. Boyle County 124; 5. Walton Verona 115.

A breakdown of the individual placers/state qualifiers from Johnson Central follows.

• Zac Scott placed second in the 106-pound weight class.

• Ryan Smith placed fifth in the 113-pound weight class.

• J.D. Morris finished first in the 126-pound weight class.

• Christian Barnes placed fourth in the 132-pound weight class.

• Caleb Barnes placed sixth in the 144-pound weight class.

• Logan Castle placed second in the 157-pound weight class.

• Dalton Matney finished first in the 165-pound weight class.

• Seth Davis placed second in the 175-pound weight class.

• Zack McCoart finished first in the 190-pound weight class.

• Chase Price finished first in the 215-pound weight class.

• Brady Adkins placed fifth in the Heavyweight class.

Johnson Central is scheduled to compete in the KHSAA State Wrestling Championships at George Rogers Clark High School Friday, Feb. 24-Saturday, Feb. 25.
