Johnson Central takes two from Paintsville

PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central swept crosstown rival Paintsville in a 57th District softball series, winning 12-3 and 13-2 over a two-day span, April 18-19.

Both Johnson Central and Paintsville will compete in the 57th District Softball Tournament in May.

Johnson Central 13, Paintsville 2 (5 innings): Johnson Central pulled away to defeat visiting Paintsville 13-2 in five innings in a 57th District softball game on Wednesday, April 19.

Maddie Vaughn earned the win in the circle, limiting Paintsville to two earned runs. Vaughn recorded five strikeouts.

Paintsville pitcher Molly Music took the loss in the circle. Music pitched four innings, allowing nine earned runs while registering five strikeouts.

Johnson Central scored 13 runs on 10 hits. Vaughn (one hit, one RBI), Randi Delong (two hits, three RBIs), Mayson Delong (two hits, one RBI), Josie Dials (one hit, one RBI), Keylee Blair (one hit), Carrigan Ratliff (one hit), Adyson Burchett (one hit), Jadyn Estepp (one hit) and Abbie Stambaugh (one RBI) each produced offensively for the Lady Eagles. Helping her pitching cause at the plate, Vaughn homered.

Maggie Music (one hit), Laney Bledsoe (one hit), Chessa Collins (one hit, one RBI), Destiny Trimble (one hit), Ashley Wells (one hit, one RBI), Molly Music (one hit) and Kelsey Nusspickel (one hit) each chipped in at the plate for Paintsville in the district matchup.

Johnson Central 12, Paintsville 3: Winning on the road, Johnson Central topped Paintsville 12-3 in a 57th District softball game on Tuesday, April 18.

Johnson Central pitcher Keylee Blair claimed the win in the circle. Blair held Paintsville to three earned runs while recording seven strikeouts.

Laney Bledsoe pitched for Paintsville and took the loss. Bledsoe allowed nine earned runs while recording five strikeouts over seven innings.

Leading Johnson Central defensively and offensively, Blair finished three-for-four with two home runs and four RBIs.

Along with Blair, Maddie Vaughn (two hits, three RBIs), Josie Dials (two hits, one RBI), Carrigan Ratliff (two hits, one RBI), Mayson Delong (two hits), Adyson Burchett (one hit, one RBI), Sophie Younce (one hit) and Abbie Stambaugh (one RBI) made an impact at the plate for the Lady Eagles.

Bledsoe (one hit, two RBIs), Chessa Collins (two hits), Destiny Trimble (two hits) and Ashley Wells (one hit, one RBI) connected at the plate for the Lady Tigers. Collins doubled for Paintsville in the district game.
