Johnson Central outlasts Lewis County in 10 innings

VANCEBURG – Johnson Central outlasted Lewis County 4-2 in 10 innings in a high school softball regular season finale on Thursday, May 27.
Chloe VanHoose earned the win in the circle for visiting Johnson Central. VanHoose allowed two runs on one hit and one walk while registering 18 strikeouts over 10 innings.
Lewis County pitcher Emily Cole absorbed the pitching loss. Cole allowed four runs on seven hits and four walks over 10 innings, recording 11 strikeouts.
Lewis County manufactured two runs on nine hits.
Cole (2-for-5, two RBIs), Summer Egbert (2-for-4), Kayla Sullivan (2-for-5), Madison Liles (2-for-4) and Maddie Johnson (1-for-3) contributed at the plate for the Lions.
Johnson Central scored four runs on seven hits.
Emily Adkins (2-for-5), Clara Blair (1-for-4, two RBIs), Macy Conley (1-for-3, two RBIs), Abigail Williams (1-for-4), Randi DeLong (1-for-5) and Kendal Hall (1-for-5) contributed at the plate for Johnson Central in the victory.
Hall doubled for the Eagles.
The area's top-ranked high school softball team, Johnson Central defeated 16th Region member Lewis County for the second time in the 2021 season.
