Johnson Central outlasts Lawrence County 8-7

PAINTSVILLE — Carrigan Ratliff delivered the game-winning hit to lift Johnson Central over visiting Lawrence County 8-7 on Monday, March 20.

Johnson Central thrived late in the high school softball game, putting together solid at-bats during the final two innings.

Making an extended relief appearance, Keylee Blair earned the pitching win. Blair pitched five and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on four hits while recording four strikeouts.

Madelyn Vaughn started in the circle for Johnson Central. Vaughn allowed six runs on three hits over one and one-third innings.

Taylor Blevins started in the circle for Lawrence County and took the loss. Blevins pitched five innings, allowing five runs on seven hits while recording three strikeouts.

Closing out the game, Allie Triplett pitched in relief for visiting Lawrence County.

Johnson Central scored eight runs on 10 hits. Ratliff (two hits, three RBIs), Mayson Delong (three hits, one RBI), Randi Delong (two hits, two RBIs), Sophie Younce (two hits, one RBI), Josie Dials (one hit) and Adyson Burchett (one RBI) each made an impact at the plate for Johnson Central in its winning effort. Both Mayson Delong and Randi Delong homered for the Lady Eagles.

Triplett (one hit, two RBIs), Bree Jones (three hits, one RBI), Dani Crum (one hit, two RBIs), Kensley Feltner (one hit), Jada Patton (one hit), Abby Nelson (one hit) and Addalyn Woods (one hit) each delivered at the plate for the Lady Bulldogs.

Lawrence County is scheduled to host Johnson Central on Monday, May 1.
