Johnson Central loses to Allen County- Scottsville in 2A State Tournament

OWENSBORO — Allen County-Scottsville defeated Johnson Central 76-58 during the quarterfinals of the 2A Girls’ Basketball State Tournament at the Sportscenter on Friday, Jan. 16.

The loss eliminated Johnson Central from the 2A Girls’ Basketball State Tournament. The Lady Eagles exited the 2A Girls’ Basketball State Tournament 8-5.

Avery Morris poured in a game-high 54 points to lead Allen County-Scottsville (12-3) to the win. The 54 points is a tournament record. Morris made 27 of 31 free throw attempts.

Johnson Central shot 43.5 percent (27-of-62) from the field. The Lady Eagles connected on 10 of 28 three-point field goal attempts, shooting 35.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Johnson Central made four of six free throw attempts.

Kamryn Duncan led a group of four Johnson Central scorers in double figures, netting 21 points.

Joining Duncan in double figures for Johnson Central, Karlea Stanley scored 17 points, Emma McKenzie netted 14 points, and Allie Slone tallied 13 points.

Providing the rest of Johnson Central’s scoring, Martin Conley contributed three points in the state tournament game.

Johnson Central and Allen County-Scottsville aren’t scheduled to meet again in the 2025-26 girls’ high school basketball season.
